Oh what a difference a few thicker lines makes! I was super inspired by all the maddeningly intricate artwork featured by Nicholas Di Genova in the latest issue of the Salt Hill Journal (which my husband Michael Paul Thomas founded back at Syracuse University in the day). You might recognize Di Genova’s work from the beautifully insane exquisite corpse that is Road of Knives. I’ve always been very fond of using fine lines, but containing them within thicker lines as Di Genova often does makes for more visually interesting, bold pieces I think.
Speaking of inspiration – I drew this octopus while listening to the audiobook of China Miéville’s THE SCAR. Couldn’t ask for a better soundtrack.
